Today Utica has a key downtown parcel cleared for a proposed surface parking lot at 543 Oriskany Street. This lot is at the western edge of The Wynn Hospital site study area, but also nearly the exact spot where the Erie and Chenango canals Intersected.
The Wynn-BUD Initiative seeks to create the Utica Canal Heritage Center at this location.
200 years ago today, the canal boat "Chief Engineer of Rome" made the first public trip on the #ErieCanal, transiting the newly completed section between Rome and Utica, with many celebrations along the way.

Utica's Canal Heritage Center, a perfect location and tie-in to New York’s newly opened 750-mile Empire State Trail, via the Rayhill Memorial Trail, Utica Marsh and Utica's budding Harbor Point plans in North Utica.
We're not opposing The Wynn Hospital, just don't bulldoze more of Downtown Utica's Historic Columbia-Lafayette Neighborhood..., help inact the Wynn-BUD Initiative.
